Valley Forge Casino Resort Revives Local Tradition with New Music Fair

Debut performance to feature Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Smokey Robinson

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (Sept. 9, 2014) – Valley Forge Casino Resort President and CEO Mike Bowman today announced the debut of the Valley Forge Casino Resort Music Fair, reviving a local tradition. Smokey Robinson will headline the first show Dec. 13.

“We’re very excited to create a new music fair with chart‐topping headliners right here in Valley Forge,” Bowman said. “Every show will be an outstanding experience in our newly renovated, high‐tech convention center. The spirit of the music fair is all about bringing national headliners and up‐and‐coming acts into our backyard, and that’s what we hope to do for many years to come.”

The debut performer is singer‐songwriter Smokey Robinson, whose career spans over four decades of hits. He has received numerous awards, including the Grammy Living Legend Award and the National Medal of Arts Award from the President of the United States. He also has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. A founding member of The Miracles, Robinson dominated the R&B scene throughout the 1960s and early 1970s. He later turned to a solo career, where he continued his tradition of hitmaking with “Just to See Her,” “Quiet Storm,” “Cruisin’,” and “Being with You,” among others.

Most recently, Robinson has released a special duets album titled “Smokey & Friends,” which features Robinson alongside a celebrated roster of artists, including Elton John, Steven Tyler, John Legend, Mary J. Blige and more, singing the best‐loved songs from Robinson’s unmatched catalog of hits including “My Girl,” “You Really Got A Hold On Me,” and “Being With You.” “Smokey & Friends” is available now on all major online music outlets and select physical retailers.

Valley Forge Casino Resort Music Fair performances will be held in the property’s newly renovated convention center and Waterford Ballroom. A full list of shows running through 2015 will be announced in October.

A companion to the Music Fair debut is the opportunity to purchase the new Valley Forge Casino Resort annual membership. Members receive one free ticket to any entertainment act annually and 10 percent off all entertainment ticket purchases at Valley Forge Casino Resort. Also, the cardholder and one guest receive unlimited access to the casino floor. Memberships are $69.99 per year and can be purchased at Valley Services, just off the
casino floor.
