King of Prussia, Pa. (November 4, 2015) – To increase awareness about a disease affecting 47 million Americans, Valley Forge Casino Resort is promoting the power of purple and rewarding guests who make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of the Delaware Valley.

In support of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, the casino resort will dye the water in its outside fountain purple – adopted by the Alzheimer’s Association as its signature color – and guests who make a donation to the organization will receive that dollar amount in their choice of Free Slot Play or Match Play.

Donations must be made in $5.00 increments and the maximum amount is $50 per person. There will also be a donation box in the casino lobby all month.  All change collected from the donation box and the fountain will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association of the Delaware Valley.

Jim Rigot, president and CEO of Valley Forge Casino Resort, cited said these latest initiatives as important next steps in building on the casino resort’s partnership with Alzheimer’s Association, announced in April.

“With, more than 1,000 employees interacting with guests every single day, as well as through the various events we host and our promotional resources, we have a unique opportunity to be Alzheimer’s education ambassadors – and we’re honored to do it,” he said.

The partnership includes efforts to educate employees, guests and the community about Alzheimer’s and dementia.  One effort already up and running is the creation of an “Alzheimer’s Action Team” of employees who are trained on the warning signs of Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Warning signs of Alzheimer’s include*:

  • Difficulty completing familiar tasks at home, at work or at leisure
  • Trouble understanding visual images and spatial relationships
  • Confusion with time or place
  • Decreased or poor judgment
